Motion North is a group based in sunny central Manchester. It’s a group of creatives, motion artists, animators, sound designers, filmmakers, illustrators, designers, and VFX artists based in the north who gather to share their love of making things move.

Started in 2009 by Jim Campbell and Ben Black, it began as a social gathering: a way to keep up with trends, discuss plug-ins, and moan about clients/bosses. Since 2011, Jonny Ashworth has curated the event, and over the years it has grown into a place to learn from the best, attracting industry speakers from across the world.

Alongside its regular, smaller sessions, Motion North hosts an annual festival in Manchester. I’ll be there once again, running around with my mic and camera to capture the mood.
