Writer. Editor. Founder of Creative Boom.

For 17 years, I've championed creative people and built the support I wish this industry had when I started. It began as a blog and became a magazine, a podcast and a community of creatives who show up for one another through the highs, lows and messy middle of the work.

The creative industry doesn’t need more gatekeeping. It needs room for more people to thrive. That belief is behind everything I’ve built through Creative Boom: a platform to support creatives everywhere.

A little more about me

Katy Cowan
Creative Boom

I’ve seen how powerful creativity can be, and how isolating this industry can feel when support is missing. Creative Boom exists because creative people deserve better representation, more honest conversations, and spaces where they feel seen rather than measured.

My focus now sits at the intersection of editorial, community, and conversation. Whether through Creative Boom, the podcast, or live events, my focus is on supporting creative people in ways that feel human, considered, and genuinely useful.

New to YouTube

Up close, unfiltered and captured on camera to give you a behind-the-scenes.

We now have a YouTube channel for Creative Boom, and I’m the poor soul who has stepped forward to become the face of the platform. I run around the world covering creative events, meeting founders and seeing their studios and how they work. The idea is that we offer a backstage pass to the industry, giving real insight along the way.

Understand where my head’s at right now.

I love to write about the things I’m currently curious about. Whether it’s new technology and how that’s shaping the creative industry, or the latest artists and designers grabbing my attention. I’ll always try and be honest about my own learning journey.
