Welcome to Design Miami, one of the best design fairs in the world.
This December, I'll be in Miami Beach for Design Miami – the world's leading fair for collectable design - and somewhere I've wanted to experience firsthand for years. If you've not come across it, Design Miami has been running since 2005 and is essentially the design world's answer to the great art fairs.
It brings together the most respected galleries, designers, collectors, and institutions for tightly curated presentations of museum-quality furniture, lighting, and objects spanning the 20th and 21st centuries. Everything is rigorously vetted, so the standard is extraordinary – this is where historic and contemporary design meet at the very highest level.
The flagship fair takes place on Miami Beach every December, with a sister edition in Paris each October. And through its In Situ format – exhibitions staged in remarkable architectural and cultural settings – Design Miami has popped up everywhere from Basel and Milan to Los Angeles, Aspen, Shanghai and Seoul. This time, I'll be there, and I’ll be sharing what I find – the makers, the conversations and, no doubt, a few pieces I'll be quietly coveting.
